Education is a complex open system under the influence of multiple factors that work together. Its harmonious development is characteristic of being comprehensive, co-relative, and practical; and, its influence upon economic growth is gradual and unbalanced in the sense of time, space and amount, considering its many inputs, variables and targets. A harmonious development of education will help promote economic growth; and the latter in turn will fundamentally constrain the investment in education, and thus cast its influence on the prospect of education development. This dissertation sets its goal as to clarify the comprehensive co-working relationship between education development and economic growth. For this purpose, the author will first of all observe China's current education investment, which is made mostly by the state, and the country's economic status to construct a couple of index systems to depict education development and economic growth respectively. After that, the paper will adopt the theory of Grey System to establish and rationalize a feasible model used to evaluate the co-relations between the two systems. At the end of this paper, the author will take statistics reflecting China's economic and educational developments during the country's Ninth Five-Year Program to corroborate his points of view. In addition, he will also proceed from the theoretical base to give his suggestions concerning the related state policies.
