| With the increasing development of computer technology, traditional traffic mode is suffering from impact, shortage of land resource and increase of vehicles, it has become an inescapable conflict during developing modern transportation. Trying to solve this problem, this dissertation brings forward the idea of exploiting automatic highway system(AHS).The dissertation expounds the feasibility of the AHS systematically, and it analyses the whole system deeply and carefully, evaluates the actual use of the system in technology and economy aspects, prospects it's future development, which are all of high important nowadays. AHS, as a branch of intelligent traffic system, is a comprehensive system which combines human, vehicle with road more harmonious through employing several new technologies such as information management, communication, control and electron. The system can decrease traffic accident, traffic jam and traffic pollution, and then raise traffic transportation efficiency and productivity. AHS is not only a or several technology, but also represent a completely new theory and thinking mode, and it is a new achievement during human exploring the improvement of traffic transportation efficiently.In a sense, the weakness of road infrastructure in our country offers an opportunity to develop AHS. Some developed counties in Europe and America are hard to avoid difficulties in constructing the AHS, only because it base on the built-pathway. However, the pathway in our country is building now, if we research on the AHS by combining the situation of our own that fall together the idea of developing the AHS and planning, designing, constructing and technique rebuilding our road network, and absorbing the experience and lessons of other counties' as soon as possible, we can avoid a lot of difficulties. We can prove our whole design level of traffic transportation, realize the conversion of wide-expand mode to intensivism mode, and finally promoting the development of social economy.
