| The fact that the automotive industry is an underpinning industry has been testified by the development of automotive industry in many countries. Although the automotive industry of China lagged behind at the beginning, a relatively integral automotive industry has formed since the first automobile manufactory was built in 1950's. The achievements are closely related to the protective policies formulated by the government.After WTO accession, the automotive industry faces new environment in and out. This paper analyses the actuality of the automotive industry of China and the demand of automobiles in the future 20 years in China by normative and empirical analysis from the angle of tariff reduction. Then I compare the investment patterns of automotive industry of Japan and Brazil and acquire some knowledge from this. On the basis of the analysis, I give some suggestions to the automotive industry of China.
