The recent history of Korean Peninsula is a history of convergence of sea power and land power, which is an inevitable result caused by its geographical politics .During the recent history, great powers aroundonce attempted to divide the buffer region -- Korean Peninsula time andagain.During the Cold War, the political division of Korean Peninsula is actually a reality of aspirations. In this sense it can be said that the division is an international structure imposed on Korean Peninsula.To great powers around, the significance the geographical politics of the division endowed with, is a contest of the control and anti-control over the region of Northeast Asia though the divisional structure of Korean Peninsula, which not only determines the essential nature of the present problems of Korean Peninsula, but also requires us to deeply reflect upon it in view of geographical politics.From the end of Cold War on, only Korean Peninsula has not been able to shake off the inertia of the Cold War. Its deadly consequence is that the competitiveness of South-North Korea' s political structures leads to a sudden inflation of confronting forces of Korean Peninsula's political and military affairs. Particularly, the gap between South Korea and North Korea is widening steadily. North Korea can find no way to cast off the miserable feeling of defeat, and South Korea suffers the fatigue of division to the extreme. It's evident that this is a condition apt to a fierce turbulence that cannot be controlled.Regarding the situation of Korean Peninsula, great powers around have drawn up their strategies of Northeast Asia in the interests of their own. But actually the realistic values of these strategies are greatly depreciated by the nuclear problem of North Korea, for, if Korea Peninsula comes to the worst condition, the great powers around cannot benefit fromthat, and nevertheless pay for that. This essentially indicates that, Korean Peninsula's peaceful reunification benefits countries around, and thus, countries concerned should take more proactive attitudes towards the solution to the problems of Korean Peninsula, in which China's role is attractive. Korean Peninsula carries the most conspicuous meaning of geographical politics to China, so China has been always paying special attention to the changes of the situation of Korean Peninsula.As everything has positive and negative aspects, the process of Korean Peninsula's peaceful reunification also brings positive and negative influences on China's security and economy interests. But it should be said objectively that Korean Peninsula's stability and peaceful reunification is of great realistic value to create an international environment or an internal environment favorable to the development of China either in the sense of geographical politics or in the sense of economy. As for this, China is playing more and more important role in the problems of Korean Peninsula. The author believes, the friendly ties between Korean Peninsula and China will deeply influence the prospects and developments of the region of Northeast Asia.
