After China's access to WTO, foreign banks have speeded up their pace to enter China's financial market and have competed and collaborated with Chinese domestic banks. China's commercial banks now have many difficulties to compete with foreign banks by their traditional operation of deposit and loan and have to inaugurate new profit sources. Thus, it is imminence for our banks to study the immediate business of commercial banking.This paper is composed of three chapters. The first chapter is about the basic conception, style and characteristic of immediate business and compares the conception of immediate business that is usually used in China with that of off-balance sheet of activities used abroad. Through comparing the differences in the field of history, regulation, capital strength and income source of immediate business between domestic and abroad, the second chapter finds out the lack of experience, regulation, scope, service, human resource management and business idea of China's banking. Based on the analyzing above, the third chapter uses the theory of financial innovation and discusses such strategies which should be made by our commercial banks as the innovation of workable immediate business and the measures we should take about the forbidden one, points out the key variety of immediate business and probes into the charge for it. This paper thinks there are two approaches to increase ratio of market appropriation, profit and competitiveness of China's commercial banks as well in the situation that China's commercial banks are lack of foreign banks. The first approach is to change business idea, which is aiming at the maximum of profit. The second one is to attract and cultivate the person with ability of understanding business and person being good at management and innovation.
