International exhibition industry is developing vigorously and plays more and more important role in promoting foreign trade, providing technology transfer, promoting the development of national industry and other industries. With the accession of China into WTO and the enhancing trend of globalization of world economy ,attention is therefore commonly paid again to the problem of development of international exhibition industry.This article introduces first, taking the development of Hunan Province's international exhibition industry as the subject, the present situation of international exhibition industry in the foreign countries and in China, and also the present situation and existing problems of international exhibition industry of Hunan Province. Then, through the analysis of the four typical cases using the four famous foreign exhibition companies-KolnMesse Group, Germany; Groupe Exposium , France; Reed Exhibitions,U.K. and E.J. Krause& Associates, Inc. USA, the experiences are summed up for Hunan Provincial international exhibition that should learn and draw from foreign exhibition industry.On this basis, the theories concerned of development of international exhibition industry in Hunan province are introduced and the analysis is stressed not only on macroscopic factors such as political, economic, cultural and technological factors and the microscopic environment such as exhibition organizers, exhibitors, visitors, competitors and government, but also on the good opportunities and rigorous challenges that Hunan Provincial international exhibition industry should be faced with.Finally, the development tactics for international exhibition industry of Hunan Province are put forward: in macroscopic plan, for exemple, strengthening macroscopic planning and management in exhibition industry; establishing national organism for exhibition management and creating exhibition association to normalize and coordinate exhibition market and improve exhibition hardwareas soon as possible, developing rapidly Hunan Province's economy and increasing governmental investment to exhibition industry. In microscopic plan, realizing innovation in exhibition management , exhibition marketing , exhibition technology and exhibition service; carrying out actively specialized brand, internationalization and exhibition group strategy of exhibition industry; raising core competitiveness of small and medium sized enterprises to improve its consciousness in participating in exhibitions and strengthening the training of international exhibition personnel.Using the detailed, correct and new data, standing on in the height of development of international exhibition industry in Hunan province, analyzing mainly its macroscopic and microscopic environment and using also various studying methods such as theoretical analysis, comparative analysis and case analysis, this article discussed the core problem of how to develop international exhibition industry in Hunan province. I hope that this article can offer a guiding role and reference for the development of international exhibition industry in Hunan province.
