Rural labors and the migration of rural labors in different areas have their own characters because of the difference of natural, social and economic conditions in our broad country. This article will take an example of Nantong, and have a study on the characters of rural labors and the migration of rural labors, causes, differences and influencing factors by virtue of systematic, comparative, quantitative and qualitative analysis. The thesis' s framework is that the first chapter is the prelude, second is the situation analysis of rural labors and migration of Nantong City, third is the rural labor' s migration differences and influencing factors of Nantong City, fourth conclusions and suggestions. The results are as follows:(1)The problem of labor surplus in Nantong is very serious. The migration is generally concurrent. It is obvious that the major option is local migration, and sub-option is ecdemic migration. The employment of migration appears to be multi-channels. Rural village enterprises are still the major channel to absorb the surplus labors. Rural young and prime people with junior high school diploma are the majority. Trans-province and perennial migration are the main forms, which has become the highlight of increasing farmers' income.(2)Compared with the male migration, the female migration is seriously lagged, and it becomes the bottleneck of local migration of labors. However, promoting the migration of female labors must be brought into government schedules. Furthermore, rural economy development influences the process of migration. The areas with different economic development levels must take different measures to improve the problem.(3)The lowness of cultural diathesis of rural labors, the unbalance of development of industries, unreasonable employment structures, the lagged development of the third industry and the slowness of towns development are becoming the main factors of influencing the migration of rural labors. To some degree, the development of local backbone and characteristic industries, establishment of labor agents can improve the migration of rural labors. On the basis of these, I suggest that the labor migration should be benefit from enhancing education and training in rural areas, adjusting industrial structures, promoting the development of towns and developing macro-environment.
