Chengdu Telecom Company is a seated-owned all-capital company, a basic telecom dealer that manages sound, data, image, multi-media communication and information services. The company has experienced 117 years' development from the founding of Chengdu Telex Office in 1886 to 2003. Since the foundation of the new China, especially since 1990, under the energetic support of government and the promotion of economic development, the company has gained prosperous progress. However, since the entrance of 21 century, particularly after several times' tremendous reformation of telecom industry in our country, accompanied by the rapid increased market competition, the market environment tends to become severer than ever. Though since November 15th 2000, Chengdu Telecom has been transformed from administrative enterprise to market main body in market competition. But three years has passed, the company still haven't got rid of the serious troubles of quantity increment without increased profits. We can provide suggestions used for reference of the company's shaking off present troubled situation through studying and analyzing its development from the past to the present.The thesis is divided into the following three chaptersChapter 1 briefly reviews Chengdu Telecom Company's development of the past 100 years at first. Then we introduce present situations of the company's businesses development, among which we mainly analyze increase situation of the company's telephone customers.Chapter 2 has done comparative deep analysis of the problems in various businesses development and reasons for these problems of Chengdu Telecom Company in terms of different types' businesses, such as local net business, long distance telephone business, data business andcircuit rent business etc.Chapter 3 analyzes and discusses the development strategies of the company. Through the analysis of the company's present situation, we can see that under the present circumstances of increased keen competition, the company should strengthen marketing schemes, pay more attention to the quality of customers, vigorously develop and extend varied value-added businesses based on existent huge client groups to cater for the trend of "wireless + brand net + mobile + convenience " in whole telecom businesses.
