The theory of freedom, particularly Marx's , is one of the important contents of philosophy thought. Although people are familiar with it,they really come short of far the degree they know. There ?fore, in this thesis I discuss the forming process, science meaning^ final end of Marx's theory of freedom, etc, aiming to giving people some help for understanding Marx's theory of freedom, pursuing Marx's ideal of freedom; aiming to animadverting all sorts of the wrong libertinism. In preface, first I introduce three reasons of researching the theory of freedom;then I sum up the thought of freedom in western history of philosophy;finally I emphasize the theory of freedom about Kant and Hegel. Many complicated theories are easy to comprehend from the historical angle. In this thesis, the forming process of Marx's theory of freedom is divided into four stages: in his youth, in the hegelian period, in the feaerbachian period, in historical materialism period. The four stages is a continuously perfect process, which realizes transformation from the theory of the ideal stage with great and preeminent spirit to requesting the ego consciousness of freedom, namely Hegelian stage;then reaches from mentalism to materialism, from political liberty and democratism to communism .namely hegelian stage;finally attains "complete and free development of individual" , namely in historical materialism period. They indicate Marx's theory of freedom keeps pace of times.Freedom is said to know the necessity and rebuild the objective world, this is the definition that most people understand . In thisthesis, I think freedom is a kind of state and a kind of ambit in pursue of knowing activity and practicing activity. Knowing activity and practicing activity is a self-conscious, voluntary, independent activity . Freedom is related to a person , therefore, to know freedom is to know the relation of the person and freedom, namely the freedom of character. It is a basic content of Marx's theory of freedom. It includes three meanings: first, freedom is a kind of right of individual and quest; second, freedom is a necessary ability to control the exterior object ;third, freedom is the domination of individual, performing oneself and making an ability for the necessary of object to serve its purpose. Analysing the preceding context,we can get the basic characteristic of Marx's libertinism:the freedom is concrete, there is no abstract freedom;the freedom is opposite, there is no absolute freedom; the freedom is historical, there is no eternal freedom; In class society, political liberty has rank, super political liberty has no.The final end of Marx's theory of freedom is "complete andfree development of individual" . I think we must handle the relation" development completely and development freely" , make clarity of"logic provision of complete and free development" .Certainly, torealize this target,we must experience a process from "realm ofnecessity" to "realm of Kingdom" , develop the productivitystrongly and increase the free time.In this conclusion , I introduce the liberalism and "new left", It includes representational person ,main thought and their contestation . Finally ,1 draw out two cognition: Marxism and liberalism is similar in form , but different in content. Through the contestation on freedom and democracy between liberalism and "new left" ,we should insist on Marx's theory of freedom .
