Analysis On The Development Of Multi-modal Transport Corridor By Container In Northeast China

The incoming rapid development of economy in Northeast China brought about by the recent national policy of "recovering the economy of northeast industrial base" has made it urgent to improve the transport system in this area. Therefore, with limited capital and time, it is reasonable for the corridor of multi-modal transport by container, highly efficient and low-cost, to be chosen as an answer to the impending problem, which makes it necessary to find an effective way to develop the corridor of multi-modal transport by container according to the conditions of Northeast China.However, for various reasons, most present researches have mainly discussed the ports and railways respectively, and the few studies concerning the entire procedure of multi-modal transport by containers have focused on problems and defects in related laws and regulations. This paper begins with the fundamental theories concerning containers, multi-modal transport and corridor of multi-modal transport by container. And in following parts, it introduces the present conditions and problems of corridor of multi-modal transport by container in Northeast China.Based on the above analysis, an integrated planning of depots involving in the multi-modal container transport is conducted using the subject function c-clustering method, taking into consideration the various means of transport. In the meantime, suggestions and advice are advanced on the further improvement and development of corridor of multi-modal transport by container in Northeast of China.
