As the important force of enterprises gaining international and the strong propellent of the social improvement and economic development of a country, entrepreneurs play a vital role. Hereby, it is very necessary to research the mechanism of entrepreneurs' growth. Generally, the growth of entrepreneurs has clear relation with the environment of industry. But it is lack of systematic study about this topic among the current literatures. That studying the growth of entrepreneurs from the viewpoint of industry evolution seems very necessary. This article regards the growth of entrepreneurs as a social process to continuously create new values from a new view and analyze the relevancy of entrepreneurs' growth and industry environment. It separates the process of new value creation into three phases: capture opportunities, obtain resources and implementing the new value creation. While, these three phasescorrespond with the main factors--entrepreneurs' network, stakeholders andorganization frame and strategy--that affect the growth of entrepreneurs. The industry environment acts on the process of new value creation through the factors affecting the growth of entrepreneurs, and eventually affects entrepreneurs' growth. Based on this research path, the main content of this article are listed as follow:Chapter one: Firstly this article points out the necessary of studying entrepreneurs' growth based on macro and micro factors. But current studies of foreign and domestic literatures all concentrated on cognition of entrepreneur and the static analysis on its growth. However, as a social process, entrepreneurs' growth is restricted by environment and other factors. Moreover, the influences of these factors on it are different in the dynamic process. The real economic phenomena show that entrepreneurs' growth depends on industry environment and the growth rate of entrepreneurs is different during the different industrial phases. Based on this understanding, we put forward the aim and the value of this article.Chapter two: According to the standpoint of Kaufmann & Dant, the article lists the main views of previous literatures for entrepreneur and entrepreneurship from personal characteristics, entrepreneurial process and entrepreneurial behavior. Afterwards, the article reviewed the study of the environment analysis of the growth of entrepreneur from social environment, industry environment and personal environment.Chapter three: According to the viewpoints of Bruyat & Julien etc scholars, we regard the entrepreneur as a main body to create new values based on the cognitions of entrepreneurial process and behavior and define theentrepreneur from body, new value creation and process and behavior. Underthis definition, the article measures the entrepreneur into four types--venturing entrepreneur, corporate entrepreneur, imitative entrepreneur and reproductive entrepreneur. For our purpose, we divide the process of new value creation into three phases, namely capturing opportunities, obtaining resource and carrying out. While, these three phases have correlation with thefactors--entrepreneurial network, stakeholders and organization andstrategy--affecting the growth of entrepreneur. The article analyzes thedetailed relationship between these two sets of factors, on which we argue the essence of the growth of entrepreneur is a continuous cycle process for new value creation based.Chapter four: the article defines the industry as a set of organizations with same form. Furthermore, if some organizations use similar input and technology, produce similar products and serve similar customers, we argue that they have the same form. So, industry evolution can be transferred to the diffusion of some special organization form. Based on this analysis, the article discusses the influence of industry environment on the growth of entrepreneur and argues that the growth rate of entrepreneur is different in different industrial stages. Finally, we establish a model to analyze the optimal time for entrepreneur to create new...
