Three elements of contemporary Chinese rural political culture--political cultureof clan, equalitarianism political culture and revolutionary political culturead changed complicatedly since the People's Republic of China. In the era of continual revolution: the political culture of clan inflicted heavy loss on influence, the equalitarianism political culture was strengthened further and the revolutionary political culture permeated into the whole countryside continually. However, since the reform and opening policy was carried out in rural areas, the political culture of clan has been disappearing although it repeated sometimes, the equalitarianism political culture has retired from the rural political culture but been crawling forwardly until today, and the revolutionary political culture has been secularizing. Although the change of contemporary Chinese rural political culture has gone through two different stages, there are many special characters in nature, impetus, structure and process. And it has great influence on rural politics, economics and culture of China. With the development of the Chinese modernization, the traditional peasant will be the modem citizen. But we have to make great effort to realize it in future.
