As international community pays more and more attention to the issue of the relationship between trade and environment, both environmental measures related to trade under WTO framework and trade measures related to environment in multilateral environment agreement, share the same vehicle, namely the green barriers. Undoubtedly, it is theoretically significant to study the concept of the green barriers, impact of the green barriers on the mechanism and effects of international trade. In recent years, developed countries frequently use the issue of green barriers to restrict export from China, which causes negative effect on Chinese trade. Therefore, it is practically important to research the issue of green barriers and its effect on Chinese foreign trade and overall economy.Currently, there is no agreement on" the exact meaning of the concept of the green barriers in domestic academic. The existing research on the green barriers' impact and the influence on Chinese foreign trade is not profound and systematic. This thesis tries to study this issue profoundly and systematically. This paper can be divided into four parts. The first chapter begins with the comment and analysis of domestic research on the green barriers, from the perspective of subject and object of the concept .Then, the paper concludes a precise concept of the green barriers and further analyzes the extension and trend of the green barriers. The second chapter makes theoretical analysis and international political economical analysis on static and dynamic effect of the green barriers, providing basis for analyzing its effects on Chinese trade; combined with up-to-date data and information. The third chapter analyzes the green barriers' impact on Chinese export commodity structure, export commodity cost and quantity, the growth rate and economic effect of foreign trade, the international trade relationship between China and developed countries, its positive and negative impact on Chinese international trade. On the basis of formal analysis, the fourth chapter concludes and proposes the specific effective countermeasures to offset the negative effect of the green barriers on Chinese foreign trade.
