The most important motive of the economic globalization is the global profiting movement of the microeconomic body in which the multinational enterprises constitute the main part. Hence, the multinational enterprises are the principal embodiment of the economic globalization. The economic globalization has a wide impact on the whole society, but its development isn't smooth. When there exists a pressure to unite many factors, there is another same or even larger pressure to separate. Culture is one of the separate pressures. The economic globalization is a challenge to the local culture. Its development is hindered by culture. In this article the barrier refers to the cultural barrier. In the trend of the economic globalization the cultural countercurrent is covered, so it is easily neglected.Culture is of nationality. The misunderstanding of culture will lead to the ineffective cross-culture intercourse which probably results in all kinds of conflict and even disasters. Understanding of culture has a direct effect on the activities and the management of the multinational enterprises. Misunderstanding will bring to the insolvable problems and as a result a management's failure of the multinational enterprises can not be avoided. Hence, how to properly deal with the culture gap has been a vital problem every multinational enterprises must confront with. The rational way to cope with the culture gap is in the understanding of each other, not the cultural imposing on others or the yielding to others. In this article I, first, make clear the connotation of the globalization, then systematically analyze the mechanism and elements to form the cultural barrier. Further, from the activities of the main embodiment of the economic globalization-general multinational enterprises(any enterprises which do business internationally), I expound the impact of the economic globalization and the cultural barrier to it. Finally, I discuss the cultural origin of the multinational enterprises' global-localization strategy on the ideas of cultural conflict, cultural understanding, cultural adaptation, cultural merge, cultural inlay and cultural creation. As China opens her door to the outside world wider and wider, more and more foreign companies begin to invest in China, meanwhile Chinese companies invest abroad. The research on cultural barrier can help us in the experiences and lessons of the multinational enterprises' strategies. The new ideas of this essay lay in two points: one is the introduction of culture research into the economic globalization's analysis framework, on the basis of this the barrier caused by the cultural differences to the multinational enterprises' production and management is talked about. Another is the classification of the approaches multinational enterprises apply to deal with the culture gap and the emphasis on the importance of cultural understanding, cultural inlay and the application of cultural differences.
