Different patterns of democratic politics are adopted in different countries and regions and democratic politics is manifested in different manners and realized to different degrees. However, the value orientation is the same on the whole. This paper focuses on the study of the constitutional mechanism of democratic politics. It will be of great help to the development of democratic politics to explore the interrelation among democracy, constitution and constitutionalism and to study what institutional designs to be made in constitution. It is pointed out that democratic politics is a political system and a political life through which the will and interests of the people cab be realized in an equal and free way. Its basic elements include the respect for basic human rights, freedom and equality, around which a series of institutional designs should be made in constitution. On the one hand, the human rights of citizens should be guaranteed by a stable and operational system; on the other hand, power should be rationally divided among government offices and government departments at different levels and kept within certain limits, thus creating a real limited government with internal division of power as well as checks and balances. Only in this way can institutional guarantee be offered for the orderly development of democratic politics.
