Sun Yat-sen proposed the idea of Spiritual Civilization with the time background of Chinese society and with his own practice of revolution and construction. Sun Yat-sen's idea of Spiritual Civilization is a social-political ideal project which tries to improve civilian's self-consciousness and moral progress from the inner moral level and through which nation's innovation and strengthening can be achieved. The main connotations of Sun Yat-sen's idea of Spiritual Civilization are: renewing inherent moral, improving civilian's personality, inspiring cooperation, advocating altruism, developing liberty, equality and philanthropism, developing kingcraft, renewing inherent knowledge and ability, cultivating advanced political mentality, enhancing political moral, cultivating revolutionary spirit. Sun Yat-sen constructed his idea of Spiritual Civilization from four aspects: reserving Chinese ideas with Chinese-westen attitudes,according to San-min theory,replacing "difficult to act,ease to know" with"difficult to know,ease to act",pointing to Da-tong in China and all over the world. The idea of Spiritual Civilization is an important item of thoughts of Sun Yat-sen,it owned great meaning and profound influence, and it continued and developed Chinese traditional ideas of Spiritual Civilization, developed Chinese construction of Spiritual Civilization, provided lessons and inspirations for Chinese construction of contemporary of spiritual and political civilization.
