A Study On Setting Up Reverse Logistics System Of Enterprise

Logistics interacts and develops with social economics. Much focus has always been on the profits of forward logistics while the great impact on economy by reverse logistics has been ignored for a long time. The thesis aims to make a systematic study of reverse logistics from different point of views. Such fields as its operational process, network design, economic implications, has been analyzed based on the previous practices and interdisciplinary theories, including sustainable development theory, environmental economics, optimization theory, game theory and operations research theory. Furthermore, some new advice is presented.Firstly, from macroeconomics, it defines the basic concepts of reverse logistics, analyses the reasons of product-recovery, and probes into the relationship among forward logistics, green logistics and reverse logistics. It mentions the importance of recycling products to sustainable development.Secondly, from the enterprises' perspective, the thesis analyses the economic significance of reverse logistics, and presents two models of network. Reverse logistics has positive externality. It can benefit other enterprises, society and customers, as well as environment. Customer's satisfaction and enterprise's competition can be improved, which will retain old customers and attract new customers. As for the models, the first one is based on the present forward logistics system, while the other takes both the forward and reverse logistics into account. The two models designed aim to minimizing the cost through mixed integer programming.Thirdly, in order to reach the pareto-optimality, it is necessary for government to correct the externality. The support from the government should strengthened by improving regulations and laws and raising the awareness of sustainable development in enterprisesFinally, customers should enhance their awareness of environment, which will accelerate companies to set up recycling network.In a word, the thesis studies attempts to make an in-depth study on reverse logistics quantitatively and qualitatively. It makes detailed analyses of necessity and feasibility. It shows the effect of customers and government on enterprise. Some constructive advice is also given for enterprises to set up and apply reverse logistics system.
