Industrial relocation has a long history. But theory circle gives little direct and deep research into the phenomenon. Research on industrial relocation disperses among each relevant theory, and there are few monographs in domestic theory. It is well known that industrial relocation plays an important role in the economic development. So there is a gap between theory and practice. Based on these reasons I choose industrial relocation as my research theme. My dissertation for the master degree, with the title of "Theoretical Study and Empirical Analysis of Industrial Relocation" is mainly concerned with the definition, types, causes, and economic effects of industrial relocation. The emphasis of my analysis is put on the basic rules of international industrial relocation and industrial relocation within one country or region. Then we apply these rules to two aspects: one is how to receive the international industry transferred into our country. The other is how to realize the industrial relocation in the west China development. The basic conclusions are as follows:(1) Industrial relocation, as a long trend in the contemporary and future international economic relationship, play an important role in the choice of economic development strategy for developing countries.(2 ) Nearly every developing country or region will promote economic growth by means of global industrial relocation mechanism; Moreover the economic unbalance of one country or region may resort to the change of industrial structure and industrial relocation.(3) Our country is a developing country. We should hasten the building for China as a "World Factory" by global industrial relocation, and we should try to realize the "eastern industries transferring to the west".The thesis consists of seven chapters besides the preface.Chapter one briefly explains the definition and the nature of industrial relocation, and classifies industrial relocation into various types according to different criteria. In the part I limit the scope of industrial relocation discussed in my thesis.Chapter two makes a comprehensive comment on the theory of industrial relocation. There are three parts including Marxist political economics concerning with industrial relocation, economics on relocation of industries and domestic scholars' studying results.Chapter three explodes the causes of industrial relocation. From the two angles as industry receivers and industry givers, I discuss the factors which cause the relocation of industries such as factor of production, industrial structure, institution and so on.Chapter four is concerned with the economic effects of industrial relocation. Industrial relocation is a two-edged sword. It brings positive effects and negative influences to the industrialreceiver and the industrial giver. Furthermore industrial can influence the integral economy composed of industrial receiver and industrial giver.Chapter five introduces the history of global industrial relocation, foresees the new trend of international relocation of industries. In this chapter beneficial experiences are summarized and basic rules are brought forth. In the last two parts I put the theory of industrial relocation into China's economic practice. Chapter six is concerned with the challenges confronted with global industrial relocation and the measures we should take. Chapter seven analyzes the eastern industries transfer to the western region in the China West Development. In the process of the industrial relocation government should play an important role in making advantage of positive effects and eliminating the negative influences.
