Institutional cooperation in East Asia has been accelerated since the late 1990's. There is a new tendency, which broke through old frame, and changed development thought of the Open Regionalism. From general point of view, the unbalanced economic development in East Asia, similar trade structure and an absence of trust make regional cooperation more difficult.This thesis starts with the research of trade structure, and gives a compare analysis of trade relationship among nations in East Asia as well as a cost analysis of East Asia's regional cooperation. In addition, it indicates the feasibility of establishing the East Asia Free Trade Area and brings forward a general thought on East Asia regional cooperation.This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter will introduce the current development situation in East Asia economy integration. Then it will evaluate its contemporary theories on west regional integration as well as correlative viewpoint from domestic and foreign scholars, and show some urgent problems in East Asia economy integration. In the second chapter, I will analyze the trade structure in East Asia region, and focus on analyzing the export trade, export market structure and import-export merchandise structure with statistic and comparative method. The third chapter will analyze Transaction Cost and Institutional Cost in East Asia cooperation. In conclusion, the fourth chapter will end the whole thesis with some models in East Asia economy integration and China's strategies.
