The Group of Seven/Eight, called G7/G8, was an economic and political forum founded by the seven major industrial democratic countries' leaders of world in 1975. Today, it has developed a international regime. At the beginning, its purpose was to solve the economic crisis, then enlarged to take part in dealing with the public problems, such as the global politics, safety, environment, trade, finance and the gap of IT etc. G8 has made much contribution to the global-peace, stability, prosperity and sustainable development. The thesis focuses on the history and background of G7/G8 foundation firstly. On the base of this, the thesis attempts to streamline the relations between G7/G8 and China. In the historical & realistic views, analysis the hopes of G7/G8 on China' help to response the challenges coming from globalization, and explains China's understanding on G7/G8.Thirdly, The thesis probes into the transformation of G7/G8 in the Post-cold War, and forecasts the relations between China and G8. Nominally, the Russia's attendance made G7 turn into G8, from the rich countries' club to the major countries club. In fact, G7/G8 wants to be the center of the global governance. The thesis pays emphasis on the second aspect, and analyses the motivations and direction, the driving force and feature, the problems and perspectives of the transformation G7/G8. The thesis points out the transformation and value of G7/G8 in the present age, looking forward to the relation between China and G7/G8 finally.At last, in accordance with the changes of international structure and China's international standing, the article points that China should take part in constructing the international regime. In doing so, China could cooperate with other countries in struggling against hegemonism and power politics from morality and law. Therefore, it's not only probable but also requisite for China to take part in G8.
