US Military EW Test And Evaluation And It's Revelation

In highly modern technology warfare, military forces are more and more depend on offensive and defensive electronic weapon systems. EW, which exploit and control the electromagnetic spectrum in the battlespace, has become a major feature of the modern warfare. The power and effectiveness of the electronic weapon equipment is the critical aspect for winning the information superiority in the full spectrum of operation battlespace in future. Therefore, the EW test and evaluation is critical to the modernization of PLA's weapon systems. How to develop our EW test and evaluation efforts is now a common and close concern for industries, testing and perchasing communities of our EW systems. The paper briefly analyses the major features of the US military EW test and evaluation mainly from process and applications of test resources which are two important aspects to the EW tset and evaluation. The paper finally provides several revelations or recommendations for developping our EW tset and evaluation.The paper simply introduces the basic issues about US military EW test and evaluation first, including three elements of EW, three roles for EW operation applications, and five effects by implementing EW operations, and then, briefly describes the purpose, type, strategy, process and resouce of US military EW test and evaluation, puts emphsis on discussing the procedure and its application, specially proper utilization of resources of US EW test and evaluation. Based on these analyses results, the article further summarizes the main features and limitations of US military EW test and evaluation. Finally, the paper provides several revelations or recommendations for standardizing the procedure of our EW test and evaluation, and reasonably and scientifically constructing and utilizing the resources of EW test and evaluation.
