A Study Of ERP Implementation Of Beijing Railway Signal Factory

This thesis's subject is the research of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation of Beijing Railway Signal Factory (BRSF).As a middle-sized national enterprise, along with the separation from Ministry of Railway PRC, Beijing Railway Signal Factory has already completely accepted the market economy rules. As BRSF was born in the planning producing mode for a long time, many issues have appeared now. Meanwhile, BRSF will lose all the privileges which had been enjoyed before as an enterprise of MOR PRC. In 2000, in the field of operating, sale, production, purchase, stock, cost, equipments and HR management, BRSF tried to adopt an advanced management method --- implementation of an ERP system, but failed finally because of the serious problems which exist at its informational strategy and programming, organization structure of the ERP project implementation, ERP type choice, ERP project implementation. In 2003, along with raise and gradual implementation of the strategy " span development" of MOR PRC, kinds of disadvantage which had soon appeared in the respects of BRSF's management system, operating mechanism etc., and especially its backward thinking of operating and management technology seriously obstructed existing and developing of enterprise. BRSF retries to adopt an advanced method, thoroughly change its operating way, management technology and thought, create competition advantage and strive for steady market status in order to develop enterprise. In sush background, this thesis makes detailed analysis of the BRSF's IT application and the existing problems in this field, and especially of the cause which lead to failed the first ERP implementation, at the same time makes research and discussion about the second ERP implementation of BRSF according to the contents, developing trend and realization method of ERP. The research is mostly partitioned into three points---- informational strategy, ERP type choice and ERP project implementation. In the respect of informational strategy: it have raised the overall goal about informational management of BRSF, overall view and ensure measures about informational programming, overall plan of infatization which consists target that will realize in the near future and long-term target. In the respect of ERP type choice: it chose the Yifei ERP software of China Digital company finally after full analysis and synthetical evaluating upon the strength of ERP software companies, performances of ERP software, service of ERP software companies, users of ERP software companies and prices of ERP software. In the respect of ERP project implementation: to ensure the second ERP implementation of BRSF will be successful, according to the software actualise method theory of Yifei ERP software of China Digital company, this thesis makes discussion upon the organization structure, strategy and mechanism of the ERP implementation of BRSF. To sum up, through detailed analysis of the BRSF's IT application and the existing problems, acording to the research of the respect in the field, the informational strategy, ERP type choice and ERP project implementation of BRSF, to ensure the ERP actualise successfully and to realize the development strategy of BRSF.
