Research On The Importation Of Soybean And The Developing Of The Soybean Industry

Since the 1990s', China began to import soybean from other countries and the domestic production of soybean stagnated basically. Soybean became one of a few of agricultural products that could not meet the domestic demand and needed to be imported in quantity.However, the soybean industry of china has a good prospect and it's competitive advantage as following: the large companies in main region of the production of soybean grow rapidly; it has a widely prospect for industrialization; the international competitive power can be improved rapidly because the cost of planting and process can be cut greatly; there are great margin for the improvement of the amount of production and the variety of the breed and the quality; there are great potential for the increasing of the plantation scale of the soybean; the soybean of our country are all Non-GMO.The analysis to the adverse selection in the soybean importation of our country based on the international soybean importation value model indicates that the response of our country is rational in the international market, if the assumption that China is a real large country of the soybean importation comes into existence, but if not, or the gap between the domestic demand and the domestic supply was not caused by the' demand of the final product of soybean, or induced by other factors, the results may not optimistic.The process demand of soybean increases sharply and beyond greatly the domestic supply, so that the great amount of importation did not affect the domestic plantation obviously. Then we can conclude that the undeveloped plantation industry of soybean caused the large amount of importation, not the importation of soybean hampered the developing of the soybean industry, the rise of the soybean price would cause the increase of the cost of the interrelate industries, so the importation of expensive soybean will force the increase of the input.At the end of this paper, it provides some advise for the developing of the soybean industry based on the above analysis: supporting the production of Non-GMO; improving the comparative interest of the soybean industry; encouraging the deep processing; extending the industry chain; increasing the additional value; perfecting the future market in order to secure the income of the plantation and the processing.
