On The Value Of Knowledge

It is very hot for the academic circle to discuss the value of knowledge since the 1990s. After they have seen the great value of knowledge on the economy, they always think that the value of knowledge is at its economic value. Though knowledge really has a very important economic value, from the systematic angle, this view will lead people to fall into the one-sideness for understanding the value of knowledge. So this paper use the analysis and the synthetical method , and the method of the unity of history and logic to analyse the value of knowledge in the first time. Firstly, this paper discuss the origin and the nature of the value of knowledge, and thinks that the nature of the value of knowledge is that the knowledge is meeting the needs of the people and gearing up development of the people. Secondly, from the aspects of the ground and the nature, the display and the evaluation of the value, this paper has taken a philosophic analysis on knowledge's economic value, spirit value, ethics value and aesthetic value. In the last chapter, this paper has a synthetical evaluation of these values and discuss the issue of the selection and the realization of the value of knowledge. This paper consider that the final goal of the value of knowledge is the unity of knowledge's economic value, spirit value, ethics value and aesthetic value. The unity of true, good and nice is not the spirit of the science, but the spirit of people. The direction of it is that of the future science development. Knowledge opens a gate between true and good, true and nice, so as it has a precious and unsubstitutable value.
