After being put forwarded by C K Prahalad and Gary Hamel in 1990,the concept of the core competence gets around in both the academic circle and the industry Up to today, the concrete definition and content about the core competence has not been achieved, but almost all the people realize that the core competence of the corporation is a set of capability which is more advanced than its competitor and can not be easily mocked by its competitors with the character of focusing the customer-cared value.Although it is blamed that the idea of the core competence of the corporation can only show the reason about a corporation's history success and can not predict the future, I believe that the idea of the core competence of the corporation has realistic help in improving the managing level of the Chinese company and acquiring long-term competitive advantage of them.Guangdong Kelon electrical Co., Ltd. was established 20 years ago and had glorious performance in the past. In 2000and 2001, Kelon was specially treated in China securities market because kelon can not suitably face the changeable market and the hot competition accelerated by the trend of the economy globalizing. Kelon got net profit in 2002 but its whole competency is still weak. With the idea of the core competence of the corporation, my study on kelon can produce some conducting meaning : first, let Kelon transfer its management emphasis from R&D or the productquality to supply-chain; second, let Kelon focus its outside condition including the customers, the competitors and the whole market and reform itself continuously to meet the changeable market. The innovation of my study is that I use the comparison method to analyze the core competence of the corporation with Haier Company which is a competitor of Kelon.
