Million of scientists, engineers and intendants have been attracted to probe into Inventory Routing Problem (IRP) by its strong optimization fascination and wide applied background. The researchs on the theory and application of IRP have been fruitful at abroad, while in China it's still on the primary stage. As China has been one of WTO members, Chinese enterprises are facing much more drastic competitions that they should cry for all kinds of effective measures to improve the ability of market competition. Research on IRP will help them to reduce logistical cost, improve operation efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction roundly.The research on IRP under the mode of VMI in this paper is meant to expatiate on some typical distribution projects based on all advanced theory and means about IRP at home and abroad, and compare their different essence to provide some useful idea and means to make distribution plan for Chinese enterprises. The main contents of this paper are listed below:In chapter 1, this paper introduces the research background , significance and its reasearch object, a single product distribution system of one-many network, then indicates that its reasearch core is to make a discussion about some typical distribution projects under definite condition of customer demand and explains why it does so.In chapter 2, this paper expatiates on how to make complete inventory supplement plans for each of the two tactics-individual optimization and group optimization . Further more, some analysis and comparisons between them are done.In chapter 3, this paper pays more attention to vehicle routing and time arranging problems on the basis of chapter 2. According to the distribution fact, this paper builds a new model of mixed time window and solves the VRP effectively by means of PGA.In chapter 4, this paper makes a more essential analysis and comparisons between the different distribution projects by a logistics case to testify the conclusion of theoretical discussion, and illustrate the efficiency of solutions inevery phase, the decision continuity between phases and the guidancesignificance of final solution to practical distribution operation. In conclusion,this paper points out its main work and prospects its future orientation of research.
