| Nowadays, the competition between enterprises is actually the competition between human resources of firms, which is demonstrated as the competition between employees' potential and learning ability. So, how to acquire and train managers and how to make those managers understand and accept the corporate culture have become the important part of development strategy of nowadays enterprises. Now, most enterprises of our country are facing the shortage of senior managers and the lack of corporate culture. When foreign TNCs are using their corporate university to train the senior managers and to spread corporate culture, our enterprises are still using the traditional way to get employees, that is, to get employees from universities and other firms. Because of the weakness of those two methods, our enterprises usually encounter the question of managers training and human resource running off due to the difficulty of understanding corporate culture. Therefore, a research on corporate university is necessary, which is useful to provide a method of manager training for our firms and which is helpful to solve the problem of recruitment of managers and cultivation of corporate culture of our firms. Meanwhile, it is also helpful to the firms which are building their own corporate university.There are six parts in this paper. The first part is preface. The definition, development and tendency of corporate university are introduced in the second part. The necessity of building a corporateuniversity is discussed in the third part. The building process and the key factors to make a corporate university success are studied in the fourth part of this paper. The question of how to build a corporate university in our firms is answered in the fifth part and we draw a conclusion-of all those research in the sixth part.After the discussion of corporate university, we reach the conclusion that corporate university is not only the managers training center, but also the cradle and communicate center of corporate culture and spirit. And the latter one is the most important function of a corporate university. With the above mentioned functions, corporate university practically becomes the root of competitive advantage of a firm and the experimental field of changing a firm into a learning organization, which make corporate university a necessity for firms in certain stages. In other words, corporate university is a perfect way to solve the problem of manager training and corporate culture cultivation of our firms, so all the firms that is capable should build a corporate university. But, we should always remember that our firms can not simply copy the procedures of TNCs' in building a corporate university because our firms are different with TNCs in some aspects. Traditionally, we don' t have a business education system and most leaders of our firms lack business knowledge, which make it difficult for us. to directly copy TNCs' methods of building corporate university. Due to this reason, in order to build a corporate university of our own, we must get some outside assistant like the help from business schools. Meanwhile, the support of CEOs is also important in building corporate universities. |
