| This research is targeted in the Taiwan Businessmen who have been making investment and devoted a lot to the rapid development of economy in China mainland. The author collected quite a great many materials from documents of famous scholars home and abroad on factors, which infects those merchants' interest in investing in mainland. After making intensive and scientific analysis, the author focuses his studies on two factors which influence Taiwan merchants' investigate motivation and development trend. At the same time he designed a set of questionnaires and handed them out in 600 typical enterprises in zhujiang and Yangtse River Delta and Qingdao where Taiwan merchants are concentrated. He did the survey through net, telephone and open inquiry. The number of the return papers is 295, account for 49.2% of the total distributed.After making meticulous research of some relative materials and the result of the survey, he reached a conclusion as follows:1.The main reason that influence the motivation of Taiwan merchants' investment is:China mainland is sufficient in labor force and their prices are comparatively lower;the renting of eanth is cheaper; the market is huge and has a great potential; the traditional factory in Taiwan is hard to survive ; having some privileged policy and they can make use of the quota exporting their products abroad. Meanwhile, due to the special relationship between Taiwan and China mainland, the investment still have to be infected by certain situation and financial and business policies.2. The main reason that influence Taiwan merchants' develop trend is: cheap labor force; lower renting; leading position in domestic market; abundant fuel energy; lower cost of transportation; higher efficiency of government; sufficient human resources; suitable upper and lower assistant enterprises etc. The strategy that Taiwan merchants value most is obtaining lower cost. Apart from that they have to think of their own manufacturing characteristics, taking otherfactors into their consideration, so as to show various development trends. The cither factors involved are:The fields where investment is concentrated are moving northward. So they should take market ranking positions and electricity providing, etc. into consideration; Taiwan investment of electronic and appliances manufacturing industry consider comprehensively of upper and lower enterprises, high efficiency and fine services of local government. They choose a form of producing and selling their products.in domestic markets, consider comprehensively of proper market arrangements, which means choose the hest occupation of domestic market; Taiwan enterprises invest to build up research center, consider comprehensively of results of the research and factors of human resources of technology which means making use of certain professionals; The investment on service industry consider comprehensively of the direction of its development, depending its investment on the investment of potential customers.Qingdao is the pioneer of Shandong Peninsular, enjoying convenient, transportation, communication and developed public utilities, fine natural and cultural atmosphere, good life facilities, which is the heated focus around gulf of Bohai.Nowadays, Qingdao is emphasized on developing its three particular economies of port, sea and city sightseeing meanwhile making four industrial basements for family appliances, petrochemical industries, ship, automobiles, locomotive engine and container manufacturing, and new materials, which has firm foundation and groat potienlial. According to the author' s research, he has made some suggestions on how to make full use of Qingdao' s advantages as follows:1. Modifying attitude to increase the working efficiency and service standard.2. Valuing importance to introduce large corporations from Taiwan. .3. Creating ideal conditions to promote enterprises cooperation between Qingdao and Taiwan.4. Balancing cultivation and introduction and reserving advanced human resources.
