Taiwan currently lacks sufficient policy to protect its own benefits and rights among the South China Sea, since “South China Sea Policy Program” has been disused in 2015. Meanwhile, the US and other countries around the South China Sea all wish Taiwan could give up “Nine-dash line” which is also named “Eleven-dash line” by Taiwan, in order to destroy mainland’s sovereignty or policy on the problems of South China Sea. Now Taiwan has difficulty on future South China Sea policy, if the past one ought to be abandoned, it’s no doubt that the future policy also does not make any sense. It is said that the time between 1949 and 1988 is quite an important stage for shaping up Taiwan original South China Sea policy. When Taiwan still masters the international sovereign right over global political world, its South China Sea policy is much more aggressive but self-restraint, in this way, Taiwan manages to make few changes depending on mainland situation so as to maintain the “anti-Communist front”. But after Taiwan has lost his seat in UN, its South China Sea policy turns to be conservative on the reason that Taiwan government does need mainland support to defend all Chinese benefits and rights on South China Sea. Facing the choice between maintaining “anti-Communist front” or protecting Chinese benefits, the consideration on mainland factor soon plays a significant role on the adjustment of Taiwan South China Sea policy. The historical accumulation produced by the adjustment law of Taiwan’s South China Sea policy is quite an inheritance of mutual benefit between mainland and Taiwan. Taiwan nowadays policy on South China Sea has to take enough consideration on both the past one and mainland influence, what’s more, cross-strait mutual historical rights and basis ought to be united. In addition, this historical heritage is a historical basis for cross-strait cooperation on South China Sea. It shall never be abandoned if Taiwan is interested in our Chinese historical heritage. Therefore, a cross-strait cooperation in need is mutual benefit for Chinese nation indeed.
