The Studies Of Some Management Issues In SGNEC Co., Ltd

SGNEC Co. Ltd (hereinafter refers to SGNEC) is a big joint venture between Shougang Group and Japan NEC Co.,Ltd established on Dec. 31th, 1991.We have investigated and analysed thoroughly the management in SGNEC in following four perspectives: strategic perspective,political perspective, cultural perspective and learning/change perspective. The purpose of our study is to find out both the experiences and lessons in management of SGNEC, in order to get some valuable experience and lesson for the better development of SGNEC in the future,as well as for learning and reference for other enterprises in CHINA. We have found that the successful experiences in SGNEC are:a very clear development strategy,a scientific and reasonable management regulation,a strict decision making system,a good enterprise culture have been formed in SGNEC,a study organization has been setted up,100% employees working on production line have taken part in QC activity.The shortage and lesson of SGNEC are:little awareness on profitability,employment period of higher management staff is short,different salary for the same work,the salary of Japanese employee is much higher than that of Chinese ones,and the topics of QC activity is mainly about technological reform on production line,no topics about management and decision making system at all. There are two management systems in SGNEC,they are responsible for the two parent companies and commanded separately by the two parent companies,SGNEC has not formed a high unified command system by now. Some concrete suggestions about the future development of SGNEC are put forward in the final conclusion part of the paper,we hope also that our suggestion can provide referential experience for management of other joint ventured enterprises in our country.Even though SGNEC has some shortages in management,it is a very influential enterprise.
