| Biotechnology industry is a strategic industry in economy now. With a series of great breakthrough in biotechnology, biotechnology industry is showing a bright future. It is strategical to accelerate the development of biotechnology industry for all countries, especially the developed countries.Biotechnology industry includes biopharmaceutical industry and agriculture biotechnology industry. Biopharmaceutical industry is the forerunner and mainstream of them. At present, over 60% biotechnology achievements are used in biopharmaceutical industry. As the cradle of modern biotechnology, the United States also acts as a leader in biopharmaceutical industry. China has made a great progress in biopharmaceutical industry in the recent decade. However, there is still a huge lag compared with the United States. But the biopharmaceutical industry has been developing only recently, and it is standing at the beginning of large scale industrialization, so there is a brand new choice for both developed and developing countries. In China, biopharmaceutical industry has great chance to be the breakthrough in the world competition.In this paper, the developments of biopharmaceutical industry between China and the United States were compared, and then the developing strategy of biopharmaceutical industry in China was discussed.Firstly, the history and features of biopharmaceutical industry was reviewed. The importance of developing biopharmaceutical industry in China was presented.Secondly, what was presented is an outlook of the biopharmaceutical industry development and the driving factors to the industry in the United States and China. And the government role and capital market were also analysed, regarding their promotional function to the industry.Finally, after comparing the biopharmaceutical industry between the United States and China and finding what made the United States biotech success, an SWOT analysis was made on China biopharmaceutical industry, and future strategy was discussed to its further development. |
