The team has been widely applied to complete the work in the enterprise for the reason that the organization becomes more flat, the environment is more changeful and the jobs in enterprise are more complex than before. The individual motivation and team motivation are two ways. Which way is more effective to incent team workers, focus on team or individuals? This paper is to bring out and solute it.Firstly, with the advent of the teamwork the mode of the working becomes various and the content of motivation expands from individual to team.Secondly, the dissertation analyzes the conceptions and application of individual motivation and team motivation and draws the conclusion as follows: the complementarity of individual motivation and team motivation makes us do the proper choice according to the different situation. The individual motivation cannot take the place of team motivation neither does the team motivation. Thirdly, this paper puts forward the main factors that have impact on the choice of individual motivation and team motivation. The two factors are correlative degree of the job and the corporate culture. The correlative degree of the job is influenced by the two roles of the team member. The one is functional role and the other is team role. The functional role emphasizes the division of labor and the team role emphasizes collaboration. The individualism and collectivism of the corporate culture is another factor. The organization with collectivism and high correlative degree of the job tends to choose the team motivation. And the organization with individualism culture and low correlative degree of the job should consider the individual motivation. The combination of individual motivation and team motivation is adopted in organization with collectivism and low correlative degree of the job.Finally, this paper analyses the two cases of individual motivation and team motivation according to the thoughts of the decision-making.
