The research is an empirical one based on the theory of Human Capital, models of labor market discrimination and Occupation Segregation theory. From the perspective of gender ,the research draws upon the form of structural questionnaire to collect the data of 1029 urban residents who are in working status in Hangzhou City. The research is aimed to give a picture of gender pay gap among urban residents in Hangzhou, and analyze the pay gay from personal factors and institutional ones,thus putting forward the relevant suggestions about how to reduce the gender pay gap . The thesis is divided into 5 parts.The first part of the thesis describes the study background of gender pay gap question , it also introduces the relevant theories and researches.The second part analyzes and operates the relevant concepts of this study. Furthermore, it has stated the research framework, method and the background of the research project.In the third part of the thesis, it describes the status of the gender pay gap of urban residents in Hangzhou according to the diversity of occupation ,vocation and property ownership of the entity.The fourth part is aimed to analyze the gender pay gap .First, confirm the factors influencing the gender pay gap through the buildup of Regression model , on the basis of which to make an analysis of income with gender so as to make a final conclusion about the determinants of the gender pay gap .The last part sums up the conclusion of this research and gives a discussion about how to reduce the gender pay gap.
