With the manufacturing industry developing fast and the market economy gradually shaping in China, the commodities circulate faster than ever both inside and in foreign trade. It becomes urgent to solve the problem on how to minimum the logistic cost. It's very important to integrate all sections of the logistic system in which inventory and transportation are most important Most of the domestic articles study these two sections separately. Though some research overseas has been done on the optimization of inventory and transportation, none of the articles meets the situation when customer have the demand of pick up and deliver simultaneously. This paper puts forward a new integrated question integrating the three sections together-inventory control, transportation organization, delivery and tries to find an optimized decision. It's significant to describe this problem in mathematics words and apply the research results to practice. This paper mainly discusses the model, arithmetic and strategy of the optimization of integrated inventory control and transportation for a pick-up and delivery system.Based on analysis of relative articles and practical problems, this paper puts forward a new question on the optimization of integrated inventory control and transportation for a pick-up and delivery system. Definition of this question is pointed out, and strategies are classified into first and second pick-up and delivery systems by the demand rate and pick-up rate. This paper also establishes a nested strategy model and a fixed route strategymodel for each pick-up and delivery system. Arithmetic of the models is designed, and astringency of the arithmetic is also discussed. An empirical research is also done in a brewery located in Chengdu city. This paper demonstrates the process of decision-making using the model. Calculating result shows that nested strategy is better than, fixed route strategy by contrasting the logistic cost of each pick-up and delivery system under the two strategies. In conclusion, mis paper describes the pick-up and delivery system, then sets up mathematic models and finally does an empirical research to discuss the problem of the optimization of integrated inventory control and transportation for a pick-up and delivery system.
