Focusing on the problem that the existent search arithmetic can not achieve the purpose of road programming of several points and the traffic rules are difficult to be considered, the embed GIS platform-eSuperMap is applied to the construction of road programming system, and the way to improve the visual performance and the way to enhance the real-time processing of road programming information is discussed. Some researches of applying key technologies of the system are also made. Furthermore, a GIS-based road programming system is designed and realized. The main researches in this paper are: 1) Some improvements of the common DaLian Map is made and build the database of attribute data including road level, road length, road status and so on to satisfy the requirements of the programming system; 2) The embed GIS platform-eSuperMap is deeply studied and improve the key technologies of it. The paper also applies the A* arithmetic and defines the arithmetic function to make it can so the problem of road programming of several points on the embed equipments. Some special traffic situation is disposed by redefining some functions inside; 3) The whole design, structure analyses, data-map design, GIS base design and arithmetic design are made, and on base of these the road programming system is built. The dynamic manner is adopted and roads' characters such as one way street, are also considered in this system. So different solutions can be got according to users' requirements and these solutions can also be showed on the map. The system can be used on the pocket PC and the some busy places such as the railway station and hotel. It can also be used by the logistics companies for trucks distribution. In the future being combined with GPS, it can also be used in the navigation fields. So it has great practical values.
