Study On The Integration Development Of City Region

With the economic globalization and informatization, city competition is no longer an individual city competition but city region competition. From enhancing regional competitiveness point of view, it is a certain tendency to form a city region with closely contacting, sound division of labor and structure, which consist of megalopolis and towns with different scale and function, to participate in the international competition and cooperation. In order to accelerate the city region integration development and impel the city region to become a region support of the northward development of Zhujiang delta metropolitan region, by designing and leading ahead, this thesis takes the city region in inter-provincial boundary area of Guangdong, Fujian, Hunan and Jiangxi (GFHJ) as case and mainly discusses the following aspects.Firstly, the thesis defines, differentiates and analyzes the concept, type, function and evolvement phase of city region, then reviews the researches about city region both at home and abroad. Meanwhile, the thesis analyzes the theories such as city region theory, spatial structure theory, comparative advantage and competitive advantage theory and region integration development theory, which can support the integration development of city region in inter-provincial boundary area of GFHJ.Secondly, according to SWOT, a regional analyse model, the thesis analyzes the integration development feasibilities of city region in inter-provincial boundary area of GFHJ from such four aspects as strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats, and the thesis points out that integration development of the city region is faced with not only comparative advantage and competitive advantage, but also weakness caused by small scale of central city, bad condition of traffic and feeble spatial interaction, not only rare development opportunities caused by northward development of Zhujiang delta megalopolis, but also a great deal of challenge caused by district economy and so on.Thirdly, the thesis focuses on reallocation of spatial structure and adjustment of industry structure, and presents goals, thoughts, prospects and approaches of integration development of spatial structure and industry structure.Finally, the thesis puts forward some countermeasures and policy advices including breaching the district boundary to establish strategic consciousness of city region integration development, constituting institution among the different districts to balance and harmonize regional benefits, breaking up the division of city and countryside and blockage of different districts to develop the regional consolidated markets, harmonizing programming and co-constructing to establish infrastructure network system, enforcing the power of Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) to cultivate new culture which can benefit city region integration development.
