Western Geopolitical Theory And Chinese Hehe Culture

Abstract: After the Cold War, geopolitics, in an interpreting way, has beenused to analyze and forecast the cooperation, contradiction and conflict in international politics. In our country, studies of geopolitics which gets a late start don't break away from the influence of the Western theories. In the global background, it is too weak for geopolitics to analyze and solve many international issues. Where is the way of the development of geopolitics, how to make any innovations are important problems that we should think about. Analyzing the history of western geopolitics, this paper indicates that the western theories stems from individualism, which cannot get a rebirth in the western culture. By reviewing Chinese culture of Hehe, the thesis maintains that the culture of Hehe is a supplement and revision to the flaws in western geopolitical theories. In this way, it tries to bring about a new train of thought for the solution to collision in international relations.This paper embraces four parts:The first part is an explanation to the meaning of geopolitics. It is very necessary for us to think and analyze predecessors' theories, though there is no common understanding on the geopolitics' connotation. In order to understand its origin thoroughly, the paper makes an introduction on derivation of geopolitics and makes an analysis on some representative definitions.The second part focuses on the history of western traditional geopolitics. The article divides the history into four moments: the early geopolitics, geopolitics before the WW II, geopolitics in the Cold War, geopolitics in the post Cold War. It also makes preliminary researches on the drawbacks of traditional geopolitical theories and its root.The third part discusses Chinese culture of Hehe and its value of today. Chinese culture of Hehe, endowed with rich meaning and long history, shows itself not only in the thoughts of sages in the past, but in the common living. On the premise of thing's difference and contradiction, Hehe culture, with a basis of humanity, seeks common ground while reserving differences. Its core thought is harmonious but difference. The Hehe culture's value, in the present age, is demonstrated in the way of harmoniousness between nature and human, men and men, nations and nations, states and states. This is why Chinese culture of Hehe is able to amend western geopolitical theories.The forth part is a criticism and surpass: the supplement and amendment of Chinese culture of Hehe to western geopolitics. In view of the drawbacks and ideological roots of western geopolitical theories, the thesis holds that western geopolitical theories are going to be revised and supplemented with the view of system and integrity, pluralism, cooperation, harmoniousness.The final part is a conclusion. How to inherit western geopolitics in a critical way,how to reconstruct geopolitics are our mission. As an integral part of the whole civilization, Chinese culture of Hehe will direct the development of geopolitical theories. So people's peace will come true only by building a new international order guided by international theories on the basis of Hehe spirit.From the angle of the people's interest, this paper is thinking the rebirth of geopolitical theories in the global background. There are several innovations in this paper. Firstly, the paper points out that the profound ideological roots of western geopolitical theories lie in individualism through analyzing its history, which explains wh the western geopolitics view the world with a thought of opposition and conflict. Secondly, In accordance with the deficiencies of western geopolitical theories, the paper persists in making a supplementary and revision to them with culture of Hehe. In this way, geopolitical theories are endowed with a sense of value more than it is a theoretical tool to think and solve contradictions and conflicts in international relations.
