A Theoretical Study On Political Conflict

The political conflict remains a weak factor in the academic research of political science and Chinese political practice. This area requires doing more research and thinking highly of. As the political conflict is objective, facing the political conflict directly and study the political conflict are the precondition of building a sound society and achieving political stability and political development. The ability of utilizing and controlling the political conflict shows the ruling ability of the party and the government in power in a nation, which is the base of constructing legitimacy of them. It is an interesting topic, and the author himself always pays attention to the history and the current political and social life. Under the guide and inspiration of the tutor, this study comes up. This study is considering about the question "whether the political conflict benefits the fulfillment of sound political life or of political order and whether the political conflict will offend the continuous political stability and democracy" . This is a question which researchers continued to present and demonstrate. With the development of the society and history, it is also an important and significant issue in the field of research in political science which needs to be updated and paid a constant attention to. To study it, not only the formers' opinions have to be scanned, but the investigation and research in detail on the political conflict, political order and democracy in modern society especially the relation pattern of them need more attention. In this thesis for master degree award, it is impossible to involve all those important issues. This study focuses on the general issues of the political conflict, such as the definition, characters, forms, essence and functions. Besides, based on the standard analysis and empirical analysis, the author puts forward the ideas and opinions with an attention to outline the relation pattern between political conflict and the implementing of sound politics, and between political conflict and democracy. Those make a full preparation for further studying the question specifically and provide theoretical resources to correct the simple negative evaluation on the political conflict in reality.The contents are as follows:Introduction: it presents the reason for choosing this topic, the significance, the current research situation, the structure and the methodology. These are indispensable components of the thesis.The body of the thesis: under the direction of Marxist historical materialism, it starts with the angle on the political relations which are based on the interests, and is followed by the investigation of the general problems of the political conflict, and then presents some personal opinions. This part involves four chapters:Chapter 1 identifies the definition and characteristics of political conflict. Based on the understanding of the "politics" and "conflict" , we arrive at the definition of "political conflict" and analyze the characteristics of it so that we can differentiate political conflict and non-political conflict, which provides the precondition for the following chapters which do more specific research from the forms to essence and from essence to functions.Chapter 2 discusses the forms of different levels of political conflict. It can be seen that the exiting forms of political conflict have the apparent characteristic of gradation resulting from the different "degrees" of political conflict. Realizing this point, it is feasible to find out the practicability of political conflict study, and also make the contents of the political conflict more sufficient and practical.Chapter 3 indicates the essence of the political conflict. The focus of the study changes from the forms of political conflict to the essence of the political conflict, which develops the study and shows a great progress.Chapter 4 explores the functions of political conflict.
