Legitimacy of politics is one of the sources to establish and maintain a political system. Ideology is the basis of recognition of the political legitimacy. It plays a positive as well as a negative role in the establishment of a political system. Chapter One Legitimacy of Politics. Political legitimacy refers to the rightfulness of ruling of a government on the basis of the populace permission. It is not only the concept in science of law, but also a necessary basis of the political ruling. It actually refers to the relationship between the ruler and the ruled. The obtain of the political legitimacy is decided by the activity of the government on the one hand, and recognition and loyalty of the people to the government on the other hand. Chapter Two Factors of Constructing the Legitimacy of Politics. The basis and elements of legitimacy of politics are very extensive, in which ideology plays a key part. The explanation of appropriacy of interest, legitimacy, effectiveness of ruling, and morality need to finally trace back to the understanding of ideology. They are really deep analysis of ideology. Chapter Three Sense of Ideology. The emergence and development of ideology is a process, and new meanings of it never cease to appear. Francis Bacon and Distutt de Tracy and Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel contributed a lot to the development of ideology. However, the earliest emphasis on ideology comes to Karl Marx. It is Marx who firstly combined a specific concept of ideology with general concept of ideology. Karl Mannheim interpreted ideology theoretically. Ideology refers to the way a society or community perceives, recognizes, and believes the surrounding environments and self-existence. It reflects the value and interest orientation of the society or community. Chapter Four Significances of Ideology to Political Legitimacy. Ideology is the flag of politics and something imbued with morality. It is capable of reflecting the history of ruling, of interpreting the present ruling, and of designing the future. Therefore, it is necessary to explain the aims, organization, and definition of political activities. As far as the ruling class is concerned, it is the theory basis of legitimacy of the present ruling. Chapter Five Affinity of Ideology and Political Power. Affinity exists between ideology and political power. In general, politic power needs ideology to provide it with legitimacy. Before modern times, ideology manifested as "theocracy", "fatalism", and "divine right of kings". Ideology, replacing the theory of "fatalism", and "divine right of kings", is the theory of social contract and the theory of natural rights claimed by bourgeoisie. Chapter Six Inheritance and Development of Marxism. Socialism ideology mainly reflects in the works, theories, and speeches of revolutionary leaders. Chapter Seven Enhance of Identical Ideology. In order to strengthen the political legitimacy, we must enhance the conceptual identity of people, for it is the way of promoting ideology to be identical. There are some factors that we need to consider: economic development, political participation, political democratization and containment of corruption. Conclusion Paradox of Ideology in Construction of Political Legitimacy. Ideology is mysterious. It conceals mysteriously the essence of social existence. The concealment serves to maintaining the present ruling. Any class is able to use ideology to oppose its opponents. The paradox of ideology is not a problem of recognition, but a problem of interest.
