With the development of information technology, the military command automation system will be day by day prominent in the future wars. The system is composed of the functions of command, control, communication, computer, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and so on (C~4ISR). It must be the first choice to break the system swiftly for the both sides in a war. Consequently, the safety of the command automation system has been the primary problem to solve. The real-time performance of the command automation system is undermined by the time lag which formed by network transmission. At the same time, higher accuracy is required due to the instantaneous changes of the battlefield environment. In accordance with the three basic principles (predictive model, rolling optimization and feedback correction) of predictive control, the paper proposes applying predictive control to the command automation system. The paper makes some theoretical analyses and researches on system safety, real-time and accuracy by making use of the principles of rolling optimization and feedback correction. The paper also designs a real-time signal processing module based on FPGA and DSP, which provides a reliabel guarantee for improving work performance of the system.Firstly, the paper introduces the present research of the command automation system and the predictive control. Secondly, based on the present construction situation of the command automation system, the paper puts forward that the predictive control should be applied to the command automation system. Thirdly, by making a lot of analyses, the paper demonstrates the feasibility of the application of the predictive control to the command automation system, after which the paper presents the basic structure and fundamental principles. Finally, based on FPGA and DSP, the paper designs a real-time signal processing module to better the optimized feedback function of the predictive control. which provides a theoretical base and implementation guide for improving the safety, real time and accuracy of the command automation system.
