Since 2000, our country's criminal rate was growth about 18%-20% annual. which 1/3 is violent criminal, and passion criminal accounted for 1/3 in violent criminal. Passionate violent criminal means that the perpetrator was provoked by words and actions, in the state of lose self control, the real-time violent criminals.In previous studies, few researcher study the psychological characteristics of passionate violent criminal as a special study matter; and the current studies have tried to mechanical discriminate perpetrators from square john by personality differences, but In the group of offenders, there are still important factors in addition to personality, especially for the type of passionate violent criminal, in the state of outbreak of passion, its criminal decision and criminal behavior are happened in a very short time, so the ability of quickly make the right decisions and inhibit the intended behavior whether make an important role for the implementation of passion criminal?In this study, we will make the type of passionate violent criminal as study object, expect to find their personality differences with law-abiding citizens; This study also assumes that they can not completed effective self-control, ultimately resulting criminal is due to in some areas of cognitive processing capacity of their is worse, therefore, this study want to through some simple experiments to study the differences in cognitive processing capacity of offenders and law-abiding. In study one,200 adult male passionate violent criminal were selected from the prison Yu zhou, in which prison time less than one year and prison time more than ten years both have 100 each, educational level above high school, formed the experimental group,200 adult male citizens were select the, include 150 students and 50 civil servants, educational level above high school, formed the control group, using SCL-90 and EPQ to syudied their mental health and personality traits;In study two,60 adult male passionate violent criminal were selected from the prison Yu zhou, educational level above high school, formed two experimental groups, each has 30 people, acceptance test in the states of anger and calm; selected 60 male college students, formed two control groups, each has 30 people, acceptance test in the states of anger and calm. Experimental materials include:EFT tests, prospective memory test, concentration test, operation span test, SAT task test, go/no go task test, the letter cancellation test.The major findings in the above two studies are as follows:(1)On every factors of SCL-90, no matter what type of prison time, the scores are statistical significance higher than law-abiding citizens; on somatization, hostility, paranoia and psychosis four factors, there was no statistical significant difference in scores between prison time less than one year and prison time more than ten years; on compulsion, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, terror and others six factors, there are statistical significant differences between prison time less than one year and prison time more than ten years. Through the results of SCL-90, we can found the mental health of offenders are significantly lower than the normal population, and the special environment in prison has significant impact to mental health.(2) In the EPQ test result, on neuroticism, psychoticism and extroversion three level, no matter what type of prison time, the scores are statistical significance higher than law-abiding citizens, it shows that there is special personality between passionate violent criminal and law-abiding citizens. but in the type of passionate violent criminal, these three personality traits have no significant difference. At the same time, on the scores of lie scale, within one year prison time offenders and the control group, there was no significant difference, but they both have significant difference with the type of prison time more than ten years. these results indicating that environment of prison will increase the self-protection;(3) On the cognitive style, there is no significant difference between the offender group and the control group no, while in the state of calm and anger, there is no significant differences, indicated that the congnitive style is a stable trait, it isn't easily influenced by emotional factors. In the scores of concentration test, working memory test, the letter cancellation test, prospective memory test, SAT task, go/no go task, the results of control group were significantly better than the criminal group, indicated that control group's cognitive processing capacity significant higher than the offender group; in all tests, the calm state's results are also significantly better than the anger state's results, and criminal groups are more easily impacted by emotional state, indicated that the cognitive processing capacity of passionate violent criminal is lower than the nonnal population, especially in the emotional state of anger, passionate violent criminal more likely to make the wrong decision or criminal acts, because their lower cognitive ability.
