Think-Tank is a nonprofit independent institution which takes policy studying as its core task. American Think-Tanks have a major impact on U.S. foreign policy and play the role of "revolving door" between the political and academic circles. Think Tank is the brain of U.S. foreign government department and the source of American foreign policies. The US Government will consult Think Tank before making any important decisions.Council on Foreign Relations is the most influential Think Tank for U.S. foreign policy. From its beginning of the establishment till today, Council on Foreign Relations has almost worked on every significant major U.S. foreign policy. After World War two the Council on Foreign Relations had planned a rational strategic blueprint for the United States hegemony in the world.Analyzing the impact of Council on Foreign Relations on American foreign policy demonstrates the impact of think tank to U.S. foreign policy. The article describes why and how the U.S. Think Tanks have influenced U.S. foreign policy By case study, this article demonstrated how the Think Tank influenced U.S. foreign policy decision-making process in detail, which holds great significances for our better understanding of U.S. foreign policy-making and its diplomatic influence on China.
