The law history of Japan is a procedure of always transplanting foreign law and learning and absorbing foreign legal civilization.Japan had learnt from the western counties since modern times.Under the guidance of "budding produce industrial and civilization and FuGuoJiangBing",they commenced series of bourgeoisie reformations in the Meiji restoration period which including the legal systerm and law education.The Japan society had changed greatly in the development of reformation.In the modernization era,there was an very interesting situation worthing attention, that is Japanese neoteric law schools turning into the birthplaces of higher education in modern Japan, Japan today's colleges mostly can be traced back to these law schools of the Meiji restoration period, some were the private law schools, the other were the official law schools or public law schools.From the history of Japanese modernization, we learned about that.the situation was depended on the characteristics of Japanese modernization. Japanese law education dated back to the institution(明法寮)which was the first school set up in Meiji restoration period.It went through different stages. Japanese modern legal systerms had been established on the whole by twentieth century.And at the same time the public law school and private law school had been developed side by side.This greatly promoted the process of Japanese legal modernization and the course of adopting foreign law.In the meantime the Japanese law education learnt from the western countries.In a word.on the one hand,law education took an inportant role In the process of legal systerm modernization.It trained a large number of professional talents and legal staff.In addition.it also popularized legal knowledge and rights consciousness and enlightened persons. On the other hand.the legal modernization had an inportant role to law education.It made the law education in-depth and more popular by means of expanding the demand of legal talent. The private legal education in Japan played an important role in its formation and development process of modern education of law.As we all know that private law education derived from those private law schools.They tortuously developed on the condition that the integration of folk independent development by the common people and jurisconsults and suppression and management from government.they owned significant features and cultural traditions and developed into today's comprehensive universities on this basis. The author intends to Japanese law modernization in the background, to Japanese law for the development of education for a thorough investigation.
