On Mechanism And Solutions Of Chinese Group Events Under The Background Of Harmonious Society

Building a harmonious socialist society is an important strategic task based on the overall situation to build well-off society in an all-around way and socialism with Chinese characteristics. Contemporary China is on the way in switching to market economy, social transformation and structural adjustment. All kinds of social contradictions are increasing with an explosive growth. Group events happened correspondingly across the Country as one falls another rises with the growth of quantity and scale. To study and tackle the group events for building a harmonious socialist society is an important issue. This paper tried to find out the important influencing factors of Contemporary China's group events based on combining the relative theories in the West with the current situation of china, and then propose the solutions.This paper consists of four parts.The first part is an overview of group events, and mainly related to its concept and classification. There is no uniform pattern and definition of group events between domestic and overseas, which caused chaos on the study. This paper attempts to redefine the group events based on the listing of Western relative concepts and domestic one, make classification,and then point out the dialectic relations between group events and harmonious society.The second part introduces the Western academic theory of Collective Action and Social Movement, which Chinese researcher can draw lessons from. It includes irrational and micro perspective of social psychological, rational and meso-level perspective of organization, perspective of macrostructure and perspective of culture. They draw out their own theory from different angle, and each one has part of explanatory power. However they always tend to emphasize on one factor and ignore others, which will deviate from reality.The third part tries to build systems of occurrence of Chinese group events. Filter out the main factors of group events based on the reality of social transformation in China by drawing on Western theories. These factors include accumulating in the sense of relative deprivation, the expansion of political opportunity structure, the main frame and the repertoire of group events and the increase in resource supply. Of course, there are many factors that have not been mentioned, but I believe that these four factors are more important in China today and determine the number and the form of group events in some period of time.The fourth part attempts to give the solutions of group events based on the discussion above. To build a harmonious society is not to eliminate conflict, but to properly deal with it. The proper solutions include tightening up the legal system, quantifying the relative deprivation to monitor, reforming the petition system, broadening the channels for expressing interest, propagandizing the rational form, innovation in the social administration system such as asking political view on Micro-blog and improving government control of the society.
