The Sino-U.S. relation is one of the most important bilateral relationships in the world. The relationship between the Communist Party of China and U.S. government has gone through a rather complex process. From the liberation war, when the U.S. government had carried out the one-sided"Assisting Chiang to Suppress CPC"policy to their direct military conflict in Korea; From"cold war"last two decades after the Korean War, to U.S. President Nixon's"ice-breaking trip"in 1972. The relationship between the Communist Party of China and the U.S. government encountered"twists and turns, ups and downs". However, one little-known matter was that, as early as July 1944 to April 1946, the U.S. government and the Communist Party of China had a semiofficial communication---the U.S. government sent a U.S. army observe group to Yan'an.Various facts contributed to the sending of a army observe group to Yan'an by the U.S. government. With the outbreak of the Pacific War, China and U.S. joined as ally to against Japanese fascism. China had played a very important role in the war against Japan because 60% of the Japanese military force was involved in this battlefield. During this period, the CPC-led armed forces developed rapidly and it had become a new force on the battlefield. With the purpose of reducing the pressure against Japan, the U.S. government hoped that China could"Pin down"more Japanese military force. Therefore, the U.S. government showed great interest to the vigorous and active CPC, and after overcoming all obstacles from the KMT, it sent an army observe group to Yan'an. The activities of U.S. military observation group in Yan'an had deepened the understanding of the U.S. government to CPC. U.S. army observe group gained fruitful bilateral cooperation with CPC, and this group wrote many detailed and informative political reports to the U.S. Government. Unfortunately, none of these political reports gained the U.S. government's attention and many correct suggestions of the members of U.S. army observe group had not been adopted. Later, the U.S. government gradually carried out the"Assisting Chiang to Suppress CPC"policy, and broke the relation with CPC. In the next two decades, the relationship between CPC and the U.S. government was abnormal, which brought a lot of misunderstanding and inconvenience to both countries' government and people, and caused the losing of many historical opportunities of friendly communication and mutual-development. The U.S. government spent more than 20 years to realize the political value of that U.S. army observe group, and it began to reconsider"Who lost China?"in that period. To be banned from the bridge, and to those who still can be traced back. This article aims at reviewing this history, from which to gain some experience and lessons thus to provide some suggestions for nowadays'Sino-US relation to develop on proper track, for benefiting both countries'people and for maintaining eternal peace.
