Study Of Ideological And Political Work In The Construction Of Harmonious Community

According to the Decision on Certain Major Issues of the Construction of Socialist Harmonious Society by the Central Committee of the CPC at the 6th Plenary Session of the 16th CPC Central Committee, the key to constructing the socialist harmonious society lies in the grass roots. From the overall social level, community is the foundation cell of the whole society. Only when each community is harmonious can harmony can achieved within the society. Therefore, the construction of a harmonious society is basic to the construction of socialist harmonious society. Ideological and political work should be incorporated within the framework of harmonious society while due emphasis should be paid. The relationship between the CPC and the grassroots should be promoted, basic democratic and political construction should be reinforced, and the CPC's base among the public should be consolidated. The general quality of the community inhabitants should be enhanced to ensure smooth construction of a harmonious society.With the on-going urban and township reforms and the profound change of social structure, there comes the profound adjustment of interest relationship, along with the significant change in social organization. More and more"unit persons"are now"social persons"; retired personnel, unemployed people and migrant workers are crowding into the community; all this has brought unprecedented challenges to the ideological work in the construction of harmonious community. The transformation of systems and concepts will give rise to the changes of people's thinking, life style and concept of values. New unanticipated situations and problems will certainty come along. Therefore,it is important and urgent to strengthen ideological and political work both in practice and theory in order to solve the new problems in this new situation.This article starts with the juncture of ideological and political work and the construction of harmonious community: The latter calls for the former, while the former has some social and individual value in the latter. Then the article studies the difficulties and challenges of carrying out ideological and political work during the construction of harmonious community. Based on this, some constructive proposals are put forward to strengthen and improve the ideological and political work, and it is hoped that this will provide some theoretic guidance for the construction of harmonious community.
