| Yan'an Spirit is a very precious spiritual wealth which was formed in revolution led by the Chinese Communist Party. It has abundant content, mainly contains: holding to the correct political orientation, emancipating the mind and seeking truth from facts, serving the people heart and soul, self-reliance, plain living and hard struggle. In the new century, with the changes of the times, Yan'an Spirit shows its immediate significance and times value. Inherit and develop Yan'an Spirit to firm our orientation of insisting on the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics, to provide theoretical support and spiritual power for building a well-off society in an all-round way and socialist modernization drive, to provide ideological guideline and reference for developing socialist market economy, socialist democracy and advanced socialist culture, and also for building harmonious socialist society. Therefore, we should grasp the characteristics of the times, and carry forward Yan'an Spirit advancing with the times under the guidance of Scientific Outlook on Development, in order to enable Yan'an Spirit to show new times value in the new historical conditions.This paper will start with the basic connotations of Yan'an Spirit, and discourse its times value in today's economic construction, political development, cultural construction and social development from four layers. In today's world where there are various trains of thought, when carrying out Yan'an Spirit, we must hold to the correct political orientation first, firmly take the road of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, and uphold the guiding role of Marxism in ideological sphere.By means of fostering the progress of socialist core value, the influence and rallying point of the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics will be in strengthened, thereby, the ideological basis of the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics will be more substantial. Secondly, even though our country is growing day by day, we still need to carry out Yan'an Spirit, hold to the fundamental purpose of serving the people heart and soul, adhere to the ideological guideline of emancipating the mind, seeking truth from facts, and carry on the practice of plain living and hard struggle, to ensure that we can always keep our fine tradition and fine style of work under condition of market economy. In the socialist constructions, we should always take people as the foremost. In actual practice, we should be practical and be innovative, as well. Inspired by the spirit of the revolutionaries of the older generation, we will press ahead with institutional reform, for developing socialist market economy, democracy, advanced culture and harmonious society. And at the same time, we will endow Yan'an Spirit with new epoch connotations.
