Building a harmonious socialist society is major theoretical achievements, which based on Comrade Hu Jintao as general secretary of the CPC Central Committee following the ideological line of Marxism, emancipating our minds, seeking truth from facts, and advancing with the times. It is also an aim our party put forward. The harmonious socialist society we want to build is democracy and law, fairness and justice, sincerity and amity, vitality, stability and order, man and nature living in harmony, which reflects the new understanding of our party on socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the nature of socialism. In-depth understanding and grasp of rich content of building a socialist harmonious society and analysis of the major problems, as well as the main way of building a harmonious society have the great significance for us to fully implement the scientific concept of development, promote the coordinated development of China's economic and social progress, and achieve the grand goal of a well-off society. Based on the guidance of the spirit of the Seventeenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, according to the basic tenets of Marxism with China's socialist construction, the new requirements of China's economic and social development in new stage of the new century, and the country's social emergence of a new trend and new features, and on the basis of the theory development of a harmonious socialist society, this paper firstly analyses the scientific content and the basic characteristics of building a harmonious society, and further elaborated major strategic significance and major problems of building a socialist harmonious society at the present stage. Finally, it elaborated the effective strategy means which should be taken at the stage of building a harmonious society.This article is divided into three parts.On the basis of combing the theory development of harmonious socialist society, the first part analyses scientific content and the basic characteristics of building a harmonious society. First of all, it talks the idea origin of a harmonious socialist society mainly from three areas. The first aspect is about the source of harmony of Chinese traditional culture and thinking. The second is about "harmonious society" Concept of Marxism, and the third is about China's "harmonious society" Concept of third-generation collective leadership of the Communist Party. Second, it takes a deep analysis of the scientific content and the characteristics of harmonious socialist society that is democracy and law, fairness and justice, sincerity and amity, vitality, stability and order, man and nature living in harmony.The second part analyses the realistic foundation of building harmonious socialist society. First of all, the paper elaborates the strategic importance of building harmonious socialist society. Building harmonious socialist society is an inevitable requirement of building a well-off society, an important guarantee to cope with a variety of challenges of the international environment, an essential requirement to consolidate the ruling the basis of Communist Party of China. Second, profoundly analyses the main issues our country faces at this stage. It mainly includes that political and economic development lack coordination, the development of culture and education discord to the economic development, social development lagged far behind economic development, the contradiction between man and nature rapidly deteriorate, urban and rural development discord, eastern and western development lack balance.The third part elaborates the effective way of building a harmonious socialist society from the political, economic, cultural and social aspects. Political aspect: To strengthen political democracy and the rule of law, and protect social fairness and justice including three areas: strengthening the building of democratic politics; strengthening the rule of law; to promote and achieve equality and justice. Economic aspect: To strengthen economy lays the material foundation of building harmonious socialist society. It includes three areas: changing the way of the development of productive forces, and developing circular economy; changing the way of economic development, and promoting the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure; improving the income distribution system to ensure economic fairness. Culture aspect: To strengthen cultural building to consolidate the spirit support of a harmonious socialist. It includes four areas: building a socialist core value system; promoting the common ideal and belief for building homes; to revive moral beliefs and promote social harmony; improving the scientific and cultural qualities. Social aspect: To strengthen the social building and achieve social harmony. It includes six aspects: giving priority to the development of education, building strong human resources; implementing development strategies of expanding employment and promoting entrepreneurship in order to promote employment; deepening the reform of the income distribution system and increase incomes of urban and rural residents; speeding up the establishment of urban and rural residents covered by the social security system, Guarantee the basic livelihood of the people; establishing basic health care system, improving the health of the whole people; improving the social management and maintaining social stability and unity.
