| Integrated circuit (IC) industry plays a very key role in the development of a nation. Because of its importance, IC industry can reflect a country's strength. IC industry includes several sectors: IC manufacturing, IC design, IC packaging, material and equipment. Because IC design industry is a great opportunity to develop IC industry, it is very important in these sectors. However, China is still on the list of developing countries in IC design industry, although it has been on the way to growing IC industry for about forty years.Since IC is of high technology, Every IC design enterprise must have its own technological innovation ability if it wants to gain sustainable competitive advantage. The essential approach to promoting own technological innovation ability is to promote firm's technological capability. Firm's technological capability reflects its potential technological innovation ability. So the research on firm's technological capability is of great importance.Based on this background, The thesis studies the definition, characters, evolution model and measurement model of the IC design enterprise's technological capability. Following the analysis, the technological capabilities of three IC design enterprises in China are measured. Combining China's present states, the reasons for IC design enterprises' poor technological capability is analyzed by applying the method of system engineering and ISM. Then the path and some solutions of technological capability evolution of the IC design enterprise are summarized. This integrated system can help our IC design enterprises to promote their technological capability and obtain sustainable competitive advantages in the long run. |
