| Recently, as one of the six high technologic industries, biotechnology has grown at surprising speed. All countries pay attention to it because it has created a lot of profit. Many governments had taken all kinds of measures to support biotechnology industry as a strategy industry, but at the same time, the governments must face more new serious challenges. During the last twenty years, biotechnology industry in CHENGDU has developed fast and established good foundation in research. But there is wide gap in this industry between CHENGDU and the other places. Based on this point, this thesis described the status and analyzes the problems of development, and then some suggestions were given as references. First in this paper the theories of the biotechnology industry were elaborated, including the classification, characteristics and development modes. Then, analyzing the domestic and international biotechnology industry summarized the successful development experiences.
